smell Jesus, smell the roses, mixed marriage immigrant single parent family“Stop and smell the roses.”  Most of us have heard of this saying.  In our modern life, we are driven by work, achievement, success, money and all other great stuff we desire to possess.  “Smelling the roses” reminds us to relax and enjoy the journey before the increasing velocity takes us into an exhaustion or collision.

One morning, soaking in the community jacuzzi, I was meditating on what Jesus said, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” [Matthew 28:20]  So, He is “always” with us.  Not only the Holy Spirit dwells “within” us after we accept Jesus as our personal Savior, but also Jesus is with us all the time.  Jesus ascended to heaven after the resurrection, appearing to the disciples and spending more time with them.  He now lives there and intercede for us day and night.  But, because God is infinite and omnipresent we have not spiritual separation from Him.

I began to wonder where Jesus is.  He can be “in” me.  He can be “outside” of me.  Either way, Jesus is right there “with” me.  Even eyes cannot see Him, Jesus is by me and with me.  Looking around, there was the hot, crystal-clear jacuzzi water.  Looking up, there were green tree leaves, white cotton-like clouds, very black crows, little sparrows and the magnificent blue sky.  All of a sudden, it dawned on me.  The universe is full of Jesus!  He is always with me, with you, with all of us, all the time, all the places.  Smelling the roses is not enough for me.  Jesus is way more satisfying than roses.  I want to smell Jesus.  He is the absolute fragrance, sweetness, truth, beauty and life itself.  He saturates the universe and awaits me to smell Him anytime, anywhere.  He awaits you, too.  Are you ready to smell Jesus?
