Dear Holy Spirit,

Labor Day weekend 2002 is almost right here.  Looking back a year ago, Lord, You gave me a revealing long weekend.  At first, I had not considered going to the MCWE Labor Day Conference in Denver, Colorado.  Then You said, “Go!”  What a milestone that weekend became.  We received great teachings and impartations from the various leaders.  More importantly, You touched my heart and let me know the following:

Labor Day Weekend 2001, laborer in the end-time harvest, mixed marriage immigrant single parent familyI am a laborer in the end-time harvest.  Tears flooded.  Heart pounded.  Thank You, Lord, for the great encouragement right on the 'Labor' Day weekend.  MCWE was 56 years old then.  Many partners I met had been with the ministry for 10, 20 and 30 some years.  I was only a one-year-old infant and awed by the depth, power and faithfulness of the leadership and partners. Your words assured and approved me and the tiny role I play in the mighty end-time harvest.  In about a month, Holy Ghost gave further inspiration to turn the monthly “Party for Jesus” potluck into a semimonthly “Home Alone Mothers” tea party.

Training will intensify.  Indeed, right away it did - the night when I arrived home.  Through this uncomfortable process, you sustained me.  You gave me a three-month prayer assignment and told me what to pray against.  Three months later, You transplanted us to our new local spiritual home, Eagle’s Nest Ministries, in December 2001.  You have broadened and deepened my prayer directives.  Slowly, I realize You are building my characters.  And children's, too.

I would be involved in the school PTA and community service.  In early spring 2002, Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) once again went through a funding crisis.  I volunteered on a sort-of PTA emergency task force and walked two outdoor shopping malls and solicited merchant donations.  Not sure if there were real monetary results.  The real issue for me personally was to obey your instruction with enthusiasm and prayer.  To serve the community, toward the end of 2001 I signed up as a WatchMail host working with Crime Prevention of Irvine Police Department.  Theft in our 636-home community has increased in the past year.  The “vpcaWatch” piloted the first broadcast on 8/21/02.  This is a long-term commitment.  It uses e-mail technology, computer application skills, and the convenience of serving from home.  You had a perfect fit for me.  Thank You, Lord.

During the conference and outside of the hotel, the annual outdoor “Taste of Colorado” went on.  There were various bands performing and many food and craft booths.  Jeanne Tan, the Indonesian Chinese hotel roommate, and I had fun strolling down the Civic Center Park at lunchtime and enjoyed various foods and festivity.  At a booth of wildlife sanctuary, I saw two endangered eagles.  One was a Bald Eagle.  I also bought animal puppets, made of yarn, wood and strings, as souvenirs for kids and their friends.

At home, You moved our Saudi Arabian housemate Walid, a devout Muslim, that weekend.  Through this handsome young man, I experienced firsthand religious superiority and the strongholds of Islam.  Praying for the Muslims became a real burden.  On the other hand, I was grateful he was gone.  Our house had become a spiritual war zone in the five months while he stayed with us.  Finally, I could relax at home.  Lord, thank you for giving me the prayer burden.  May You fulfill Your purpose for the Arab nations, Muslims as well as Jews.

Lord, I am so looking forward to the 2002 Labor Day Conference.  You told me 'go' again.  With great excitement and a little nervousness, I anticipate new revelations and instructions from You.  Possibly a year later in 2003, I’ll be able to testify what great things You will have done through the 2002 conference and the succeeding months.

To You be all the glory and love,

Yvonne
