Today was the long anticipated rally day. Also, I wanted to visit the Supreme Court. Praying there would even be a bigger deal than praying inside the Congress. Edmond decided to sleep in. Sonya and I made the team.
It continued to drizzle. Not sure if the Lord desired the day to rain for a purpose, I bought an umbrella in a nearby CVS shop. We checked out the subway. The second stop was already ‘Capitol South.’ We walked up three blocks to reach the nation’s top office in the Judicial Branch. It holds a tour every hour on the half hour. We were in time for the 10:30 tour. While waiting in line, daughter and I prayed in agreement. Soon, Holy Spirit led me to just praise God in my heart. I realized no court could be supreme without the Father – the Supreme Judge.
Courts and law schools are the battlegrounds Satan has been using to wipe out America’s God-given heritage and to shut the Gospel doors. I prayed that the everlasting Judge of all judges to reign in all America’s courtrooms, starting from the highest first. Christ’s righteousness and justice will prevail just like what He already told us. (Isaiah 9:6-7 6For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace. 7Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.) On 10/12, Pastor Dutch Sheets’ issued an urgent call for a 21-day fast, from 10/16 to 11/5 – day of election, for God Almighty to shift the Judicial Branch. Yvonne joined the call with a dinner fast.
We walked back to the hotel. After changing to dry clothes, the YES team took the subway and headed toward the Ellipse.
Afternoon – Christian Support of Israel Rally
We arrived ten minutes before the official start at 2 p.m. To my surprise, there wasn’t as big a crowd as I had imagined. It didn’t matter though. I was joyfully relieved to finally present the family to the Master at the rally. We knew no humans there. The leaders were three pastors: a Messianic Jew, an American and a Nigerian. John Hagee Ministries supported this event. There must have been folks from this ministry in Texas. Later in the evening, I discovered the Christian Coalition of America was also a strong supporter of the rally.
The worship team and a group of dancers dressed in white and blue began praise and worship. It was beautiful. The Lord had mercy and stopped the rain at 2:30 p.m. Leaders led us in prayer and gave God’s encouraging word and a vision for the rally. Many brothers and sisters representing various nations, such as China, Cuba, Columbia, Germany, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Mexico , New York City, Nigeria and others, went on the platform and blessed Israel. Our Jewish leader blessed Arabs and all other peoples. At the end, we made biblical proclamations on the relationship between Jews and Gentiles. We prayed for and toward the White House and the Congress.
Christians are spiritual Jews. The leaders reminded us our stand with Israel with Romans 11:17-24. Later, I needed to reread the all of Romans 11 to let the Lord humble me and renew me with love and reverence for our roots. (Romans 11:17-24 17If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, 18do not boast over those branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in." 20Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. 21For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. 22Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 23And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!)
In total, there were about 300 people. We considered ourselves representing the Gideon’s army the Lord had reduced from 32,000 down to 300 (Judges 7). We believed there was a significant spiritual breakthrough resulting from this rally. I marveled how the Lord had summoned the rally and each individual to come all the way to D.C. We were like soldiers without identities. Our weapons were obedience, heart cry, waiving arms and dancing feet, shofar, and prayers.
The rally officially ended at 4:35 p.m. Amazingly, kids stood for a solid two hours and 45 minutes, in addition to the after-subway walking. They had asked me to leave few times during the meeting. With the Lord’s mercy, kids endured. All our legs were very sore indeed.
There was to be a night service. No one seemed to have information about it. I asked the Lord to show me the way. While resting on an Ellipse park bench, the Lord brought brother Curtis by. He asked for directions and Sonya provided him with a map. He, too, wanted to attend the same service I inquired about, at the Convention Center. Kids were happy they could take the subway back to the hotel home. After seeing them off at the metro station entrance, I walked on to the Convention Center.
Evening – Christian Coalition
What a night! To me, it was a marvelous evening with fascinating surprises. The service was part of a two-day 2002 Road to Victory Conference, co-sponsored by the Christian Coalition of America and Joyce Meyer Ministries.
Christian Coalition came to existence about 10 years ago. It was commissioned to continue activating the many Christians involved in the political process since Pat Roberson’s running for the presidential election. Few years later, the Lord had Roberta Combs take over its presidency. Since 9-11, God has brought renewal to the organization. Roberta said, “To meet the challenges of the time, the new Christian Coalition has launched a renewal to transform the organization into every Christian’s instrument for affecting a spiritual response to our nation’s domestic and international challenges. At the heart of the renewal is a united effort of ‘faith ad action’ to refresh our mission with His spirit, and to revitalize our daily actions with the guidance of His word…”
With praised and worshiped, the service started. After Roberta Combs’ introduction, Joyce Meyer gave a powerful message of’ Truth sets us free’ with her personal testimony. Next James Robison spoke. He was like a weeping prophet and brought God’s word of love and repentance to us. He has been close to several American Presidents, including President Bush. He told us President Bush had shared Jesus with China’s top political leader. We were deeply touched. How encouraging it is to know our highly respected President cares about souls and is a soul winner!
Sujo John, a new servant of the Lord, testified how the Lord, on 9-11, spared the lives of him and his then four-month pregnant wife. (He worked on the 87th floor of the north tower of the World Trade Center. His wife worked on the 74th floor of the south tower.) He had testified on the 700 Club and many souls came to Christ. Since then the Lord has opened doors of the public schools for his witnessing. After Sujo’s testimony, Oliver North, Zig Ziglar and Pat Boone spoke one after the other.
It wasn’t a drizzle. The Lord showered us with speaker after speaker, word upon word, and inspiration upon inspiration. Again, I saw Jesus uniting and preparing His bride, the Body of Christ, before His soon-coming second arrival. In this end-time, although disasters will come upon the world, I believe His righteousness and justice will reign for His bride. Tonight, I had a glimpse of one of the many vessels and ways Jesus uses to bring in His righteousness and justice, glory and honor. For His name’s sake, I pray Father will manifest Himself in American politics and government. And, we shall see godly public servants continue to be raised up to lead and exemplify His Kingdom on earth.
October 12 – Going Home
We visited the Union Station in the late morning. It was renovated and turned into a huge, handsome subway and Amtrak station full of shops and restaurants. None of us was enchanted by it though. Edmond was in a hurry to go to the airport. He missed his friends Austin, David, Fahd, Koki, Shohei much.
The Lord gave us a rich trip. We fulfilled our specific assignment. We rallied with our roots the Jews and fellow Christians. We prayed inside or outside at the highest office of all three government branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. We saw so many federal government buildings: Department of Labor, Education, Agriculture, Transportation, FBI, IRS, Library of Congress, National Archive, and others. We did not, however, visit the Pentagon because after 9-11 it no longer allows visitors. We saw or entered other sites of national heritage and historical remembrance: the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam and Korean Memorials, and Holocaust Museum. Additionally, we learned about the Christian Coalition. As we were landing at the John Wayne Airport, I praised God and sensed “mission complete.”
The Lord still has not revealed the details of why He called and allowed the YES Team to be at the rally. What I do know is my prayer for Israel and for America--our President and his cabinet, senators, congressmen, Supreme Court justices and all other leaders and their families, has become fervent.
To Him be the glory and honor…
