<<< New brothers and sisters have come to Christ. Praise God! Among them, Kimsan and Kimsoin work at the Hotel Sofitel in Siem Reap and Chheang Makara works at the Hotel Cambodiana in Phnom Penh. Please pray for them and the others that the Lord will disciple and richly bless them. >>>
Hi team, How's everyone? Did you have a happy Mother's Day?
I felt somewhat frustrated about having such a struggle with communication using e-mails, especially when our schedule is so hectic. Again, the Lord encouraged me. This is the just first time I travel internationally and trying to maintain communication with the team. He knows all things and will work them out.
May 13 - Relaxed and Ready for Thailand
After few days of heavy schedule, today is a little relaxed. Shangri-La's pool area is designed like a tropical lagoon. Laid down on the lounge chair and prayed quietly. Thanked Jesus for all He has done on this trip so far. He loves Asia. We are watching His strategic move in this region and He will sweep Asia with His love and truth. Also, took the time to enjoy the lagoon and absorb the dynamics about interaction among team members. I have seen jealousy, anger, rejection, self-pity and control from certain individuals. Also, obedience from many. Most important of all, unity from all on praying for the vision and purpose of this trip.
At the breakfast, brother Ernest Liew from London, sisters Ai-lee Chong and Phoebe Chan from Malaysia and I shared our vision and faith in Christ. Thanked God for bringing His four Asian kids together to enjoy a breakfast for an end-time purpose. I believe we will meet one another in the future on the Asian gospel field.
Sister Det from the Philippines coordinated this pioneer trip of prayer walk. Det is the Director of Mission To All the World (MTAW) in Asia. She, assisted by her granddaughter Tricia, is our trip escort and co-leader. We took the flight to Bangkok in the afternoon. We prayed on the bus as we got ready for the next spiritual warfare in Thailand.
May 14 - Thai Temples and Gem Factory
Started the day with a prayer meeting at 5:30 a.m. Some sisters shared that they had already had spiritual invasions during the night. Dolores also had one while I was asleep. Without realizing what was going on with her, I had awaken in the middle of the night and thanked God for turning her snore off so I get a better sleep. My actual prayer had been for the Lord to keep me asleep no matter how loud Dolores snores.
Thais have spirit houses all over the places. Almost one for every building. 95% of the population is Buddhist. We visited the temple of the Golden Buddha. Tears filled my eyes when seeing spiritually hungry Thais kneeling and worshipping various dead statues. They have not yet realized the real God is living and loves them. All team members quietly prayed that God breaks down the stronghold of idolatry.
We went to an ISO 9002 certified gem factory. We saw a film on where the gems come from and how Thais work them into beautiful jewelries. I love ruby but resisted the 'temptation' of getting some. John and Cecilia shared the Good News with the employees and got about a dozen or so saved. God rewarded John with a gorgeous gold ring and Cecilia a sparkling bracelet.
May 15 - Siem Reap, CambodiaMissed the 5:30 morning team prayer meeting. Prayed by the pool at 6 a.m. Flew from Bangkok,Thailand to Siem Reap, Cambodia, which is famous for its "killing fields." Khmer Rouge cruelly murdered 3 million, mostly intellectuals and Vietnamese, out of 7 million population in the Phnom Penh area.
Cambodia just opened up. Most of the land mines except near the border have been cleared. We thanked God for bringing us at a prophetic time and using us as warriors to pray down the darkness enveloped the nation for years. John and Bill got four airport ground worker gang members saved.
We visited the Angkor Wat in the afternoon. It's a giant Hindu stone temple, and one of the seven wonders of the world. We prayerfully covered the entire Hindu sanctuary with Jesus' blood. Six of us, Betty, Cecilia, Elizabeth, Dolores, Kay and me, climbed to the top. The rain came and poured. We prayed and worshipped God on the temple top. We declared Cambodia belongs to Jesus, and asked God to richly bless this war stricken nation. Also, we asked God to transform this temple of idolatry into a house of prayer and worship of the heavenly Father. While we were on the top, the rest of the team shared Jesus with the children gathered to sell goods to us. Many poor and innocent children received Christ as their Savior.
Sofitel is a six-month-new five-star hotel. I felt out of place. Poverty stricken Cambodians live in huts. I saw one man with amputated leg lying on a wooden table by the roadside. Yet, we live like the royalties in a tropical palace. Anyhow, in the evening we cleaned up and enjoyed a five-star buffet dinner and watched Cambodian dances.
May 16Daily prayer started at 5:30 a.m. Sat and prayed again by the pool and the spa room by myself before leaving with the group at 8:30 a.m. The Holy Spirit gave me inspirations to continue the battle prayer for the day.
Visited the Angkor Thom City, an ancient city with many stone and brick temple ruins full of carvings and sculptures of Hindu and Buddhist gods. The local sales force was composed mostly by all ages of children. They handle simple sales talk well and chase visitors. I became antsy while being nagged, followed, and awaiting busmates finishing their purchases. The Lord turned my heart toward the children. I began to share Jesus with them. Don't know if they understood my English one hundred percent. The language issue may not be important anyway. When asked to receive Jesus, three young men, three young girls and two kids said yes. Praise God! One of the young men Noun gave me his friend's phone number. Det will follow up.
At the temple, Betty, Donna, Christine and me climbed to the top and declared victory for Jesus and Cambodia. Talked with our tour guide, Lov Soeng. He is a Cambodian Chinese and 23-year-old, the youngest of three siblings in his family.
After lunch, had a quick dip in the tropical and elegantly designed swimming pool. It was fun. The pool is irregularly shaped with trees and plants in the middle. Its edge is smoothly inclined lower than the shore. You could lie down by the edge and take a nap in the water under the sun, just like a dolphin.
Visited more temples and pagodas in the afternoon. A pagoda is where monks live and be trained. The rain came. Betty, Dolores and I still went out and prayed around the top of them to bind the strong man of idolatry, while Tara, the MCWE photographer, took pictures.
Some roommate conflicts, friction of difference in spiritual opinions, and strong presentation of Christianity surfaced. Rachel and Tara, leaders and ministry staff, counseled us.
May 17
I pray that Father use this 5:30 morning prayer schedule to turn me into an early bird. John reported a great news. Last night, he and Cecilia and Mary led about 65 Sofitel workers to Jesus. (John is also a pastor.) Oh, how we rejoiced! Det will send a Cambodian pastor to shepherd them right in the hotel. A church will be started. To God be the glory! A breakthrough has come. Our intercessory prayers have been fervent and effectual. Our team effort has been paying off.
Visited a temple made of pink sandstone. Also, the other one known as "temple in the jungle." Huge trees have erected for 300 years and damaged the temple. Betty is a great battle prayer warrior. She, Dolores, Donna and I led by a policeman, acting as a tour guide, walked around various parts of the temple and spoke God's Word to pull down the serpent spirit.
On the way back to the Sofitel, we stopped to see monkeys searching for food along the road. We saw papa, mama and babies. Mama monkey got mad at me getting too close to her and baby. She hissed and harassed me. I hissed back, backed off. She followed and hissed again. I got a little nervous and told her "OK, I'm going."
In the Cambodian villages, there is no electricity yet. On the bus, I realized dad had grown in the rice paddy in China, probably similar to what I've seen in Cambodia. He was too poor to go to elementary school until he turned nine years of age. Yet, the Lord gave him wisdom and kindness. Dad helped many friends become financially independent and able to support their children to study abroad. Yes, nothing is impossible in the Lord. God can raise leaders out of the poor. My desire to pray for Cambodia grew stronger.
Encouraged by the great news John had shared in the morning prayer session, the whole team spread the Good News more openly to the people with whom we came into contact. Outside the Temple in the Jungle, three policemen and quite a number of youth got saved. I led the 15-year-old Di to the Lord. At lunch time, I led another waitress Pot Saroun to Christ. Before retrieving e-mails in the Communication Department, Kimsoin Srun (a Cambodian Chinese) and Kimsan Sao accepted Christ as Savior. Thank you so much, Jesus!
Sonya sent a math homework through e-mail. I helped solved the math problems and replied right before the takeoff at 2:20 p.m. to the airport for the flight to Phnom Penh from Siem Reap. Whew!
